- Question:
- How Much Would One Reed Cost For An Alto Saxophone?
I havent had a chance to play my sax its been in storage and now i need reeds and i dont no how much it cost Question:How much do Medium reeds Cost? Quesstion: ligature <------How much does that cost Question:how much does a neckstrap cost? - Answer:
- well, depending on the brand of reed, the price of a single reed should only be within the range of a few dollars. As for a ligature, again depending on the brand and type, the price would be somewhere between $5-15. For a suitable neckstrap, you can find them for under $10, although this does depend on the type that you would like.
- Question:
- Anyone looking for a SAXOPHONE??
i have a Selmer Paris Super Action 80 Series II Professional Alto Saxophone that I bought brand new 5 years ago and I am looking to sell! I marched in the marching band in high school, took it to state competition in Austin 4 times, and it even made a trip with me to play in Washington DC once before. It has a high f# key, handcrafted engraving onthe bell, recently replaced pads, and it plays better than any sax i've ever picked up=] it has a warm, resonant sound that goes perfect for any genre that you are wanting to play, whether its jazz, classical, or even more contemporary styles. Also in the package is a hardwood case, outside leather protective case, C-star mouthpiece, ligature, and cover, neckstrap, and i've even thrown in a lyer!=] I bought this saxophone brand new for $3,800 but i am only looking to sell it for $950, which is a GREAT DEAL!, considering it still plays like new=] i live in northeast texas so email me! - Answer:
- Oooh very, very tempting. I'd might go for it, if I knew I'd play it. lol I don't even play my Selmer Bundy II. lol I'm more of a Bari sax man, if I could find one cheaper. Even a tenor would do.
- Question:
- Selling my saxophone?
Ok I'm selling my alto sax. Do you think I'd be better off selling it in a music store or online? About how much do you think I could get for it? Conditions: I got it about four years ago. It's in really good condition (no dents or anything like that, just a few hardly noticable scratches) It sounds great It's a Conn and cost my parents over $1000 originally. I'd be selling it with the case, neckstrap, and mothpiece) A couple of pics of it: http://aycu02.webshots.com/image/30841/2000501779728909231_rs.jpg http://aycu02.webshots.com/image/30361/2000564129257294176_rs.jpg On the second one you can see the scratches around the bell I was talking about. So like I said, how much money do you think it's worth? - Answer:
- You can possibly get more from selling it online or in the paper, but possibly not. It all depends on how bad someone wants to buy it. The music store, if they buy it back, would probably only take fair market value or less (so they can make up the difference of repairs before re-selling). Unfortunately for a sax like that, I'd only expect to get $500 or so for it. You might possibly get more, but there are a lot of those, more used than yours that still play just as well as yours, for less than $500.

- What Are Your Marching Band Stories?
The marching band season is finally starting up again! I just finished my first week of band camp. We practice from 8am to 12pm, then we have an hour lunch break, then we practice again from 1pm-4pm, then we have a 2 hour dinner break, thennnn we practice from 6pm-9pm! 13 hour band camp days are so tiring! My feet and legs were so sore after practices from running so many laps and hills and doing so many push ups, not to mention marching for long periods of time. I don't care what anyone else says. Marching band is vigorous hard work! Not everyone can do it. Even so, I absolutely LOVE band and I always will! It's really fun and all the hard work is worth it in the end. I especially like the funny things that happen during practices. Do you guys have any funny/interesting marching band stories??? And what is the most painful thing for you about marching band? For me it's my neckstrap! lol Everyone might think that a neckstrap makes marching with a saxophone easier but that thing really makes your back hurt! It causes serious pain. Trust me...and section leaders out there: any good/bad things about your section? Frustrations? Acheivements? I know I have plenty of great things and frustrating things to say about my section :^P For me, all I want is for my section to do their best and be the best marchers they can be! Anyways, just wanna see what other band peoples think! I play alto sax & flute - Answer:
- Ah... marching band. ♥ So this one time, at band camp... [insert awesome yet slightly exhausting and possibly painful story about your times at the infamous thing we call band camp] :P It is super hard work, but it's all worth it and ends up being so much fun! I'm on my second day of band camp ever, and the most hilarious things have already happened. -Someone got inside a sousaphone case and was locked up and carried around. Hahaha... -A section leader used coconuts (like from the movie Monty Python) to keep time! -We did a giant block march with flanks and everyone was turning the wrong direction and it was a complete disaster. It doesn't sound funny, but was hilarious to be a part of and watch! -Chacha slide! Haha, when we were doing slides (where you turn your body to the audience but march) our instructor told us to "slide to the left, slide to the right" and everyone burst out laughing. -Section Leader brought in hot pink cookies! hahaha! -"USE YOUR MAN VOICE!" when we were counting off. Haha! -We had to do jumping jacks because someone was looking around when we were at attentions. -"Straps on" was said to the drums. Insert dirty joke. :P There were a lot of jokes actually. -"Don't look down! The ground will always be there, I promise." -"I had a dream that I was counting to eight, over, and over, and over again." There's so many inside quotes and jokes that happen. It's a lot of work to put together a show (we just started on the drill, it took us an hour to get four moves! :O) but it is really rewarding to see yourself and your section improve. My section leader is a lot of fun, she's absolutely random but very helpful and understanding. I have two good friends in my section, which makes it nice too. I get along with everyone though, we're like an extended family! The whole band is like that! I play clarinet and trombone. My frustrations are missing my markers in the drill! I always end up in the wrong place, either I'm too short or go past in the number of counts I'm supposed to have. Also, standing at attention. Uhhh... Our band director made us stand like that for ten minutes straight. When you're not used to it, it kills your arms! The drills are also frustrating, they're confusing and I can't read them to same my life. But I can see myself improving already and it's given me a chance to be a part of something special. It's like a puzzle to put together, and everyone is important!
