Buffet saxophones have been around for quite awhile, over 140 years, just after the saxophone was invented. The Buffet Saxophone S3 Prestige is made of copper, making it distinctive and producing a very nice warm, round sound. It also has an adjustable thumb rest. This allows each player to change the thumb rest to their preference. The leather pads have metal resonators which provide an airtight seal that lasts a long time.
The Buffet saxophone has right hand key inlays which are ergonomically shaped, giving the Buffet saxophone a comfortable feel. The copper body is sharp looking. The instrument is also available in silver finish. The sax has a special bore that offers a fuller sound.
Buffet saxophone models other than the S3 Prestige are no longer in production, but are still available to be be purchased (check below) and are considered desirable because they are good, professional quality instruments.

The sax is ok and plays beautifully, although has some rust it does not has any indentation and it had only 1 owner... Buffet Crampon Paris 4242 Accoding to serial # the sax was made in 1956 - Answer:
- Whatever someone will pay for it. There is nothing like a Blue Book value for an instrument. Go look for other instruments similar to it and see what they are selling for (ebay, craigslist, musicgoround.com etc).

- Question:
- About Buffet Alto Saxophone (cost)?
I have just bought a used Buffet alto saxophone in good condition for about $600. 1.) did i get a good deal on the saxophone 2.) How much will it take to get the minor scratches out of the alto saxophone 3.) how much will it cost to replace the cork on the head with a new one PLZ answer as soon as possible. If you are an expert at this plz tell me everything.. Looking forward to see your answers... - Answer:
- 1)Yes, you got a great deal. In mint condition Buffet Altos can cost up to $2000. 2) Depending on the severity if the scratches it will probably cost between $100-200 to get the sax fully restored. Make sure you check the credentials of whoever you take it to. 3) At the very maximum you should pay $50 for a new cork, and that would be for a replacement neck, so I would estimate $20-30.
- Question:
- Has anyone heard of a "Buffet Crampon" brand of Baritone Saxophone?
I'm looking to buy a Baritone Saxophone and came across one that I really like the looks of, except I've never heard of the brand name; Buffet Crampon. The sax is almost $4000 so its not cheap, but I want to make sure it is a good quality horn too. Here is a link if you'd like to take a look: http://www.saxquest.com/productDetails.asp?productcode=BuffetS400BariM - Answer:
- I'm familiar with Buffet Crampon. I'm a clarinet player and that is the top of the line clarinet. They make a good saxophone, but I don't think it's the top of the line brand, like it is for clarinets.
