Questions and Answers
- Question:
- How much is the normal price range for a Buescher Aristocrat Bb Tenor Saxophone 438797?
A friend of mine wants to sell a Buesher Aristocrat Tenor Saxophone to me. How much on average would a new and used saxophone cost? - Answer:
- That "Buescher" Aristocrat was actually made by Selmer; it's from the late 60's, just a few years after Selmer acquired Buescher. Those Aristocrats were being morphed into the Bundy line of student saxophones produced by Selmer, so they're kind of a cross between the old "real" Bueschers and the student level Bundys. As such, a fair price for that horn in good condition would probably be around $400, but if it needs some pad work or heavy cleaning you should probably knock another $100 or so off the price. You can also take it to a shop and ask them how much it's worth and what kind of work needs to be done...they'll be able to give you more detail.
- Question:
- Buescher Saxophone age and value?
I have a Buescher Saxophone that has been in my family for a very long time. It was given to me by my late grandfather that acquired it when he was young. He passed in 2005 and was borne in 1907 so I have no idea when he got this sax. The model number says 227975. I want to know what year it was made and possibly how much money its worth. - Answer:
- That serial number dates the horn to 1927. However, old doesn't always = valuable. Part of the value depends on condition as well. Bring it to an instrument repair shop for an evaluation and appraisal.
- Question:
- Information on 1914 Buescher Saxophone???
My brother was given a Buescher Elkhart Ind. Saxophone, patent date - Dec. 8, 1914. It is a Low-Pitch C, in the True Tone Series II. It appears to have ivory keys, but from information I have been able to find, they may be made of pearl. Could someone give me as much information about this saxophone as possible. It would be a big help in what to do with this instrument. THANK YOU!!! - Answer:
- Here's more information than you could ever want. http://www.saxpics.com/buescher/truetone/index.htm
- Question:
- appraisal value of buescher 400 alto saxophone?
I own a buescher 400 alto saxophone and I want to find out the value of it. - Answer:
- The value varies from around $300 to $1,500 or more depending on when it was made. The earlier, the better. If it was made in the 1950's, it is probably over $1,000 in the right market. Made in the 1960's, particularly after 1963, it is not worth much at all because Buescher was bought out by the Selmer company. Silver keys and a stamped (rather than engraved) "Buescher 400" would be a sign of a later horn. Gold colored keys and fancy engraving would be the earlier model. Also, try google searching for "buescher saxophone serial number chart" and you can look up the horn and find the exact age. There are several websites that give these details. Good luck!
